Focus on Literacy

I encourage teachers to use a strengths-based approach to help students gain mastery and realize their potential in high school and beyond.  One of the key ideas in this approach is giving all students an opportunity to shine.  To find out more about the SPOT Process, Google Hacking Deficit Thinking by Dr. Kelsie Reed and Dr. Byron McClure.  I'm also a strong believer in ongoing reading comprehension support for high school students.  I recommend all secondary teachers read I Read It, but I Don't Get It by my favorite author and expert on this topic, Cris Tovani.

Hobbies and Interests

Agility training with my Cattle Dog is my favorite hobby. :)
